About Our Family
We are seeking a patient, engaging, and experienced Private Tutor to support the academic development of our 5-year-old son. We are looking for someone who can create a positive learning environment that strengthens foundational literacy, numeracy, communication, and critical-thinking skills while making learning enjoyable and age-appropriate.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and committed to helping a young learner build confidence, curiosity, and strong academic habits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the child's current learning level and identify areas for development.
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in:
- Early Reading & Phonics
- Writing & Letter Formation
- Mathematics & Number Recognition
- Vocabulary & Language Development
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
- Reinforce concepts taught at school and provide additional academic support where needed.
- Utilize creative, interactive, and play-based learning techniques.
- Foster confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to parents.
- Recommend educational resources, activities, and strategies that can be reinforced at home.
Qualifications
- Certification, diploma, degree, or current studies in:
- Early Childhood Education
- Primary Education
- Child Development
- Educational Psychology
- Related field
- Experience teaching or tutoring children ages 4–7.
- Strong understanding of early literacy and numeracy development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, nurturing, reliable, and professional.
Preferred Qualifications
- Classroom teaching experience.
- Experience preparing children for primary school or Grade 1.
- Familiarity with the Jamaican primary education curriculum.
- First Aid certification (an asset).
